Our History

R.G. Huxley Jewellers Ltd. was founded in 1981 by master goldsmith Ronald Huxley, who has been working at the jeweller’s bench since 1972. From the beginning, Ron built the business on a dedication to exceptional craftsmanship and a commitment to educating his customers. His philosophy has always been that jewellery should be designed and crafted not just for a lifetime of wear, but for generations to come.

In 1989, the business grew into a true family endeavour when Ron’s wife, Debbie, joined the shop. Bringing warmth and a welcoming presence to the front of the store, Debbie quickly became the heart of the customer experience at Huxley’s. Her friendly guidance helped generations of clients feel comfortable returning to the shop — and eventually bringing their own children and grandchildren for custom designs and repairs.

The next chapter began in 2004, when Ron and Debbie’s daughter Tracy stepped into the workshop, becoming the second generation of goldsmiths at R.G. Huxley Jewellers. Tracy brought with her years of managerial experience along with a natural talent for design and artistry that continues the family tradition of thoughtful craftsmanship.

Over the decades, this family business has remained steadfast in its principles: educating clients about quality jewellery, refusing to follow trends that compromise the structural integrity of a piece, and ensuring every design meets the client’s vision — even if it means starting again to get it just right.

A small but beloved part of the shop’s culture is its dog-friendly atmosphere. Since 1997, when the family’s Golden Retrievers Jasper and Chewy first began accompanying them to work, customers have come to expect a warm welcome not only from the team but from the shop dogs as well. Today, Tracy’s Australian Shepherds continue that tradition, adding a little extra personality to the daily life of the store.
